Real estate executives planning new office projects in uptown and midtown Charlotte say the big block of space produced by the closure of Chiquita Brands International Inc. at NASCAR Plaza will not impact their development time lines. $20 million renovation planned for Dowd YMCA branch

The YMCA of Greater Charlotte plans to start work in late 2015 on a $20 million renovation for the Dowd YMCA on East Morehead Street, a project designed to ease parking issues, improve the functionality of the 55-year-old building and better accommodate a growing number of millennials and females who use the facility, the organization says.
